On March 26th Reverend Kimura gave his monthly Introduction to Buddhism lecture.

In late February there was a large memorial service for
Carolyn Gray, a dedicated long time member of Myoshinji Temple.

In March 2006 Reverend Shindo Imafuku, the assistant priest since April 8, 2004, was reassigned to Japan and Reverend Ryomyo Arima, who had been serving at the Chicago temple, took his place.

The Otanjo-e Ceremony is a celebration of the birth of Nichiren Daishonin.

After the Otanjo-e ceremony, we were treated to a performance by our taiko drum corp.

A kimono draped puppy-doll,  programs, and a Mrs. Kimura's flower arrangement greeted
everyone in the temple lobby as they arrived for the traditional New Year's Ceremony.

On the morning of the first day of 2006,
Reverend Kimura leads Gongyo with about 100 people in attendance.

While everyone chants, Reverend Imafuku sets the rhythm on the taiko drums.

After Gongyo, Adrienne Franklin, on the left, performed MC duties
and Maude DeVictor, gave an experience in faith.

Parishioners were then served a cup of saki or apple juice, depending on their preference or age.
They were also given a pen from the basket on the left with the inscription
"NST - Myoshinji Temple - 2006  The Year to Stand Up & Take Resolute Action. "

Alex Taft is told that he will have to wait a few years for a cup of saki.
